Dinkum Systems acquisition by Chimera Lighting
Colorado, August 31, 2018 — Chimera Lighting announces the acquisition Dinkum Systems and their principal assets effective 1 September 2018. The acquisition includes the entire range of Dinkum Systems innovative range of flexible arm, clamping shades, French flags, microphone holders and more.
Chimera plans to continue marketing and selling the entire Dinkum Systems product range, through Dinkum Systems website www.dinkumsystems.com, their established distributor/dealer network and through the Chimera worldwide network.
Dinkum Systems® was first conceived and known as The Clamp Flag Company and is the brainchild of cinematographer and inventor John Mans. in mid-2009, when Andi Lucas joined the company it was rebranded to reflect the inter-connecting and expanded nature of the range.
The first Dinkum Systems product was the clamping French flag (now sold as the CINE lens shade), a highly practical device developed by John Mans in the mid-1990s to solve the problem of lens flare on large film cameras without using matte boxes. Over the past decade, consistent demand for the CINE lens shade, positive reports from other professional shooters using the products in the field and the high definition and digital SLR revolution saw the need for John to expand the range. Addition to the line that followed were the more streamlined lens shade for smaller HD video cameras (the popular PRO lens shade), followed by the trusty FlexiMount microphone mount for audio techs on the move.
